“Fortunately, I have the goodwill of my customers.”
Siphra is the owner of Siphra’s Studio, a women’s clothing store in Aalsmeer. She started out as a sales associate and was able to take over the store ten years ago. The previous owner had suddenly left. With a true passion for the business, Siphra wanted to keep the store open. She proudly explains:
“There was nothing wrong with the store. With a different name, a fresh coat of paint, and a major renovation in 2019, I have now made it completely my own.”
An extra privilege
That turned out to be less easy than it seemed; the store had to rebuild its reputation. Through a befriended owner of a men’s clothing store, Siphra came into contact with Euretco Fashion:
“By joining Euretco Fashion, I was quickly able to sit down with suppliers. The good status I gained through this was an extra privilege. The trust that payments would run smoothly and the support of such a large organization gave suppliers a lot of confidence. Without Euretco Fashion, getting started would have been much more difficult.”
Two years ago, the store received a completely new look and feel. Siphra was full of enthusiasm — 2020 was going to be her year. Until COVID suddenly entered the picture:
“March was a bit of a shock, and we had to switch gears quickly. The staff put in an incredible effort. I strongly believe that if you do good, good will come back to you.”
Everyone is doing their best
Sitting back and doing nothing is certainly not an option for this entrepreneur. The store is active on social media; together with the fashion stylists, Siphra makes videos and personally delivers orders.
“Fortunately, I have the goodwill of my customers. Of course it’s frustrating, but it’s not our fault — it’s an external measure. Everyone is doing their best, and that’s what matters. We try to maintain personal contact as well as possible. We hope this period will pass quickly, even though we’ve learned a lot from it. You start to appreciate the small things.”
