“It is the most high-quality, fashionable, and premium reading glass currently available on the market.”
The founders of Frank and Lucie originally come from the Netherlands; they are active in more than nine countries, and every pair of glasses includes a blue light filter. At our trade fair, Robert Meijer was present — he is responsible for the distribution of the brand Frank and Lucie. He handles this for the Benelux and the German-speaking countries, establishing and expanding the brand in these regions. Naturally, we asked him to join our podcast to talk about this beautiful brand.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Robert:
“What I enjoy most is, among other things, the results. That really plays a big role. When I promise to do something, I want to do it well. That is my intrinsic motivation. And it’s very important to me that I do this with a product I fully believe in.”
What is Frank and Lucie?
That’s easy, according to Robert:
**“They are mainly ready-made reading glasses, but of course it’s not just any pair of glasses. We add something extra. It is the most high-quality, fashionable, and premium reading glass currently available on the market. The glasses are primarily made from acetate, which has cotton as its raw material. Every pair includes a standard blue light filter and features a flex hinge — that’s a temple that can also flex outward.
We also sell many ‘screens’. Those are glasses without strength, but they do include a blue light filter. My daughter is eighteen and scrolls on her phone late into the night. Then she complains that she can’t fall asleep. Now, as a dad, I can say: ‘Take a Frank and Lucie.’ The glass blocks the blue light so it doesn’t reach the brain, which keeps the brain from being activated. You also end up with fewer circles under your eyes. Many beauty salons also sell the brand.”**
Would you like to know how Robert views a good NOOS collection, how often you should update such a collection, and which fashion trends to consider?

Frank once designed frames, but resigned. When Lucie asked him to develop a few beautifully designed ready-made readers for her and her friends, he started sketching again.
